Campaign Story

I’m Lorena and we’re the Corujos. I’ve been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 12, infertility due to ovarian dysfunction since 2021, and in November with endometrial hyperplasia.

We’ve spent most of our time trying to grow our family since 2020. We first found out I needed polyp removal surgery and ovarian drilling, then had 7 unsuccessful fertility treatments that lead the doctors to the conclusion that IVF would be the only way to grow our family. Thanks to a grant and some fundraising we were able to get pregnant twice through IVF. Once with our son who was stillborn, and then we did IVF again and welcomed our daughter into this world Sept 2023. Leaving us with 3 more frozen embryos to use in the future. It has been a long journey to even get to where we are and we’ve been so grateful for the ability to have gotten the opportunity to have even just one living child.

We had not planned on continuing to grow our family so soon but around Aug 2024 I started having severe abnormal bleeding and had a hysteroscopy that ended with a diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia and precancerous cells in my uterus.
This unfortunately has sped up the process for us to grow our family, leading us to need to find funding much faster than we intended. This was never the plan. We’d hoped we would have plenty of time to save up but doctors are urging me to do an embryo transfer as soon as I have a clear biopsy of my uterus to prevent uterine cancer from forming. We are now on a time crunch to grow our family so that they can remove my uterus after we are done having children.

We urge you to consider coming alongside our family to help us not only grow our family but take care of any medical expenses to treat the endometrial hyperplasia and prevent cancer from forming.
